Freshly Made Birthday Card with colourQ

It's been a while since I was actively making cards
and now finding it hard to get back on track.
This card (2 versions) is made for 2 lovely challenges

The white base is slightly dimpled 220g paper.
The patterned paper is BoBunny's mounted on the cherry cobbler ticket
and for contrast in version 2, I placed the green border.
A simple birthday card for you.

Buzzing to You on Your Birthday with rs#51

It has been a busy start to 2013 and three weeks since my last card.
Everything is like a flurry of happenings
and we celebrated the Chinese New Year (today being the 10th day).

This simple card is made just for retro sketches rs#51

A lovely sketch indeed.
I turned it clockwise and came up with this.
Dragonfly and flowers by Spellbinders.

Nautical Happy Birthday Card

This card is inspired by two wonderful challenges
SK 163 US 194

While the inspiration photo is rather feminine, I took a masculine look
~ a nautical touch to the card ~
The fishbone paper is from DCWV Tradewinds Stack.
The Spellbinders die cut birds are from my stash cut out of a shoebox.
Used Sizzix Framelits Tickets for the frame.
Twine is Maya Road and grosgrain ribbon from my stash.
Piggyback for Unscripted is Happy Birthday sticker by Mrs Grossman's.
The initial card looked like a boat in the ocean but not quite it.
So I modified the look with the brown grosgrain ribbon and the birds
and the result is fantastic, me thinks!
So Happy Birthday to the Birthday Boy!!

Layered Birthday Card

Combined these two challenges for this card

This is one of the toughest card I have ever made, by choice of combination.
It took the longest time!!!
Perhaps because I found the orange too contrasting.
But in any case, it is done with a lot of trial and error.
Papers are a mixture of Echo Park and plain card stock.
Die cuts using Spellbinders and Sizzix.
It's a layered Birthday card!

This is the first time I am doing this, sending birthday greetings with a card in a blog to someone who designs for one of my new favorite card blogs, whose blog I now follow via another blogger and co-designer, Geri (Manitoba Stamper).  She is Stephanie of LuvScraps.

To celebrate her birthday (September 15th), Stephanie has a special giveaway to share.  Just go to her blog LuvScraps and join in the fun.

I was actually working on another card challenge for 365 Cards but got detoured to making this card for Outlawz Sunday's Clean and Simple CAS for May 13 as I had just gotten some new cling stamps from a local bookstore.  This card is also for Less is More Week 67 One Layer Card using three stamps.  To all the May Birthday card makers, Have a Blessed and Happy Birthday.

365 Cards Day 59 ~ All Boy...Sort Of

From the title of this challenge you probably guessed that it’s about creating a card fit for a boy.
But we don’t like it to be that simple, so let’s add the challenging part…
Create a birthday card for a boy, but skip the traditional BLUE color.

I asked my boys "What kind of birthday card would you like to receive?" and they just replied "Any kind."  I asked them about colors and they said "Any color."  I asked "What if it is a pink card?".  They replied "It's OK.".  Hmm... and they can be so specific about their birthday party and presents.  "I want a NERF gun", "I want The Hunger Games Trilogy", "I want a RIPSTIK waveboard".

I decided to go on my own way to make this card.  My guys and I like reptiles (in fact they bugged me for a green snake a while back but green snakes eat life white mice).  We especially like the green iguana because of its spiky look and the fact that it is a herbivore (so no need to get life food).

My initial card did not have any creativity in it, so I decided to make a new one, using the same green iguana lizard image which I like very much.  This time, I thought about the layout and used 3 different patterned papers for contrast.  Stuck the Happy Birthday sticker on a card base and cut it out before mounting it on the left top corner.  To complete the look, I lined a piece of ribbon just under the lizard and stuck 3 green buttons on the bottom right.

This card is also meant for Sentimental Sundays Challenge #100
This week's challenge is:

365 Cards Day 10 - Happy Birthday, BFF

This was a challenge I quite like. Good friends are hard to come by. The need to listen and care without any condition or judgment. One or two of a kind.

I used a cloud print from the same wrapper which had the rainbow I placed on the tag. The cutouts of the birds are from a scrapbook kit by Karla Dornacher.

The message - "Birds of a feather flock together, but you and I share THE BEST, everlasting friendship.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!".

Also submitted this card for http://chocolatecoffeecards.blogspot.com/ feathers and fur challenge.

Birthday Card for a Good Friend

Since I decided to make cards as a hobby, I undertook to start sending physical cards to family and friends (subject to availability of home addresses). So the idea to send a card to a good friend for her birthday took "birth". It took me about an hour to make it.

So to Lai Leng, have a blessed day and year ahead with many more to come.
