Buzzing to You on Your Birthday with rs#51

It has been a busy start to 2013 and three weeks since my last card.

Everything is like a flurry of happenings

and we celebrated the Chinese New Year (today being the 10th day).

This simple card is made just for retro sketches rs#51

A lovely sketch indeed.

I turned it clockwise and came up with this.

Lovely colors for a sweet sketch.

Tied the two ribbons in place of paper labels to make it charming.

Embossed the white card with Sizzix Polka Dots

and the orange Sizzix ticket label with Cuttlebug Swiss Dots.

Combining two wonderful challenges

retro sketches rs#32 and dynamic duos DD#23

What a lovely sketch and lovely colours for a happy card!

Spellbinders Labels Eleven (which looks like a fat burger),

green one cut into three (instead of four),

orange one tied with a twine.

A seashell tucked in nicely.

A row of tiny flowers stamped below.

Sneaked in the third label for the sentiment.

Christmas Card in September

This card was made for two challenges, using colors from 365 Cards Day 191

and sketch from retro sketches rs#28.

 

Photos taken with the Tab come out quite poorly.  Shape is contorted and colours obscured.

I have got to get myself a camera.  Please do bear with me until then.

Last year's Crabtree & Evelyn Christmas catalogue provided the lovely patterned paper,

mounted on green card and tied with a red bow.

Sentiment is stamped with EK Success Image Tree Antique Typewriter Alphabet stamps.

Back to School

The latest sketch from Retro Sketches rs#27 is lovely and used it for this card with a Back to School theme for Ribbon Carousel RCC68 and CAS-ual Fridays CFC68.

The card has a fun feel with the quirky alphabet stickers and froggies.

Stamped in a heart bouquet for teacher.

The gingham ribbon completes the card.

When Two Comes as One

Since I got into Spellbinders' Bird Sanctuary recently and using thick shoebox cardboard to cut,

I wanted to do do put two birds together as one.

So when I saw the latest Retro Sketches rs#26, I jumped right into it.  I knew what I wanted to do.

The sketch is simply elegant.

I cut a section off BoBunny noteworthy die-cut and placed it on a cream card,

tied a dark brown grosgrain ribbon and mounted it on a brown cardbase.

With two birds cut out using the Cuttlebug, I inked the edges slightly.

Glued the two birds together (one image in reverse)

and mounted them on the card.

Simply elegant and good for an engagement card, a wedding card or an anniversary card.

Sentiment?  A simple Congratulations would be fine.

This card is also for 365 Cards Day 174 ~ Surprise Inside.
The surprise is what the Chinese traditionally give ~
an angpow or red packet filled with money.

Hope it counts this time as my earlier submission was rejected as it was not CAS enough.

365 Cards Day 157 ~ Bound

I just love the look of twine or floss wrapped around a card in a random way.  I'm not sure what it is about it, but I'm definitely a fan.  Design your card however you want, but be sure some part of it is "bound" by twine or floss.  If you don't have either of those on hand, use the closest thing you have.

For this card, I have both twine and ribbon, using the Retro Sketch rs#23.

365 Cards Day 138 ~ Imagine This: Enchanted

A few images flashed in my mind when I thought of the word "enchanted" ~ The Frog Prince, Rapunzel, Beauty and the Beast.  All the fairy tales I grew up with and movies by Disney.  

I used the latest sketch by Retro Sketches rs#20 for this card.

I found this delightful sticker of Mrs Pots and Chip in my collection of goodies, stuck it on a cardstock and cut it out.  I enhanced the colors to make it brighter.  Cut the two pieces of papers, one patterned and the other embossed and laid them down.  Mounted Mrs Pots and Chip on an angle and added Petaloo's Velvet Hydangeas with leaves.  Finished the card with some gold dust glue squiggles and dots over Chip.  It is a happy looking card on Chocolate and Blue.

365 Cards Day 128 ~ Color Scheme

At times, color combos are hard to decipher as I can't quite figure out the exact colors.  So I have to estimate and work within what I have to accommodate.  For this card, I used Retro Sketches #19, mirror-image so as not to block the printed rose image of this luxury paper from Raspberry Road Designs which I got with the May issue of Cardmaking n Papercraft magazine.

The card turned out rather old English and romantic but not too feminine due to the lines.  I hope the colors fit the swatch.  With Lots of Love from me to you.

This card was given to a neighbour who wanted a get well card for his granddaughter.  I stamped in the sentiment Get Well Soon and got Johan to pass it on to him yesterday.  I did not charge him as he gives rides to my son from school and to tuition several times a week.
