Nautical Happy Birthday Card

This card is inspired by two wonderful challenges

Unscripted Sketches #194 + Piggyback and These Inspired Challenges Inspired By #58.

 

While the inspiration photo is rather feminine, I took a masculine look

~ a nautical touch to the card ~

The fishbone paper is from DCWV Tradewinds Stack.

The Spellbinders die cut birds are from my stash cut out of a shoebox.

Used Sizzix Framelits Tickets for the frame.

Twine is Maya Road and grosgrain ribbon from my stash.

Piggyback for Unscripted is Happy Birthday sticker by Mrs Grossman's.

The initial card looked like a boat in the ocean but not quite it.

So I modified the look with the brown grosgrain ribbon and the birds

and the result is fantastic, me thinks!

So Happy Birthday to the Birthday Boy!!

Anniversary card for three

This card is made for three super challenges

Unscripted Sketches #189 + Piggyback, Dynamic Duos DD#33, and Less is More ~ Anniversary

 

I flipped the card sketch to the left,

used this beautiful patterned paper from DCWV's The Tradewinds stack,

with Maya Road twine topped with a black circle cut with Spellbinders

and piggybacked the circle with the sentiment

Happy Anniversary from Hero Arts.

Simple elegance.

A wonderful pairing of challenges for this card

It is always delightful to match challenges, especially that of a sketch and a color palette.

When the match is right, the card just turns out well.

The patterned paper is origami paper from Tokutokuya 100 Yen Store.

The green paper is from DCWV.

Embossed the green panel with Sizzix Polka Dot

in an angle so that the dots came out aligned vertically.

The scalloped circles are Spellbinders.

The orange flower is cut using Cuttlebug's Garden Creatures.

This is a card that can be used for any occasion.

Now that I have take a couple of days off to read 3 Paulo Coelho's books,

it is catch up time for card making.

First I had to make the stickpin embellishment.  Guess what I used?

Two (unused) toothpicks (!!), bound together with tape.

The two flowers are actually shank buttons (buttons with protruding rings at the back).

They fitted in nicely, holding the toothpicks in place over the tape.

The leaves is a foam butterfly trimmed to look like leaves.

Perfect!!

The scalloped circles are cut with Cuttlebug dies.

Mounted them following the sketch, using two sizes.

The 3 layered circles have a flower in each centre.

Stamped in Hello in brown to complement the colors.

I did not stamp in any sentiment because the card is lovely as it is.

NEW!! Thought that this card is also suitable for CASology Week #8 (relax).

The card comes with polka dots and gingham (2 patterns for 365 Cards).

The bees (and flower) are from Cuttlebug,

the guitar is hand drawn and hand cut 3 layers to make it stand out,

the word LUNCH is made up using alphabet cubes.

The Bee-tles are singing for a meal (lunch).

The song that comes to mind "It's been a Hard Day's Night".
