365 Cards Day 178 ~ Two Techniques (revised)

For this challenge, you can create a card of any theme, any design, as long as you use two of the following techniques on your card.
Sanding, Masking, Embossing, Stamping with Ink, Shading with pastels, and Sponging

I have made a change to my card!!!
I thought the initial card was kind of plain with too big a tree trunk,
so I adapted it using Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 166 (SSSC166)
and now it looks absolutely sweet!!

I used Hero Arts Heart Owls stamp and Leaf  from its Floral set.
Sketched the tree trunk, colored and shaded it with pencils.
Cut it using Spellbinders' Scalloped Square and inked the edges by sponging.
Embossed a white card using the Cuttlebug and mounted it on a blue base.
Mounted 2 pieces of patterned papers from Echo Park Everyday Eclectic pack.
Placed the Owls and completed the card with 3 pink hearts attached to some twine.

This card is also made for Less is More Week 82 Recipe 3-2-1
3 buttons and 3 hearts
2 owls and 2 patterned papers
1 embossed background and 1 scalloped square

  1. This is such a sweet card - I adore the owls and the way you used buttons for your banner. So cute! Fantastic job with the sketch :)

  2. Your finished card looks really sweet Caroline although having added so many layers and embellishments, it no longer fulfils the Clean and Simple criteria which are fundamental to each of our challenges.
I do hope you'll join us again for another Clean and Simple Challenge.
    Thanks so much

    1. Hi Chrissie, thanks for the feedback. I guessed as much that it was too much for CAS. Just to let you know, I have posted another card that may fit the bill, When Two Comes as One. Hope this one qualifies. Cheerio.
