MOJO265 ~ Thinking of You

Fabulous sketches again, Mojo Monday!  Square peg for me.
I have had a leave of absence from card making for almost 2 week.
When I saw this sketch, I had to get cracking before I rusted further.
A rather simple square card using
1 patterned paper
2 scalloped squares from Spellbinders
3 words ~ Thinking of you
4 colours ~ mustard yellow, green, black and white
topped with a bright dragonfly from Spellbinders.

Doggie Mojo in Autumn Colours

This card is made for the following challenges

Here in Malaysia, we do not have Autumn nor do we celebrate Halloween.
So I made a simple doggie mojo card
with Spellbinders and Hero Arts.

Happy Day Over The Edge

Combined these two challenges to make this card
Dynamic Duos DD#25 ~ Orange and Black with Die-cuts

CFC75: Create a Clean And Simple card or tag with an element that goes over the edge.

A simple card with Spellbinders, Maya Road Twine and
plain sentiment.

Too Busy To Make Cards

Oh dear, oh dear.  I have been just too busy with my sister and niece who are visiting from Switzerland to make any cards, and I will be away for the next few days.  We have been doing so many things together.  The only breather I had was today when I went for the Bruno Groening Circle of Friends Community Hour for some healing energy.

The good news is my second son managed to sell about 55 of my cards at his school canteen day and we provided 3/4 of the sum collected as contribution to his class.  It was unfortunate that I was not able to make book marks this time, as book marks were very popular during his school's carnival day in July.

I hope to make up the lost time when I get back next week.  Love and light to all...

365 Cards Day 227 ~ ATC (clever owl)

Today's challenge is create an ATC - Artist Trading Card, which is 2.5x3.5 inches in size.  But not just any ATC - it needs to have a school-related theme.

Owls are supposed to be clever
and this owl is jumping for joy because it knows its ABCs.

Sketch Saturday with 365 Cards Colors

Combining Sketch Saturday Week #229 with 365 Cards Day 226 ~ Color Scheme for this card.

Embossed the backgrown with Cuttlebug's damask folder.
Used Spellbinders Scalloped Circle and Dahlias,
and Mrs Grossmans' sentiment sticker.

CAS Happy Birthday Card

What's up with Washi tape?
It seems to be the current rage like the Korean Psy's Oppa Gungnam Style.
Here are two challenges to use washi tapes.
Friday Mashup FM80 Mash It Up (Sketch and Faux Washi Tape)
Use some sort of tape - Duct, Washi, plain old scotch tape - on your card.

I don't have the actual washi tape.
What I have are printed tapes (faux washi tape) which can take the place of real washi tape.
So it is ideal for the mashup.
As you all well know, I like CAS cards
so this taped card is really simple.
Two different tapes, two strips each,
and a lovely Mrs Grossman's sentiment sticker.
It's a CAS Happy Birthday card
which radiates love and light.

Freshly Made, Double the Fun

This card is made with Freshly Made Sketches FMS56

Today's challenge is called "Double the Fun", and it requires you to double up on at least 3 different items on your card (e.g., rhinestones, buttons, stickers, ribbons).

I love the sketch so much that I had to make another card with it.
So double the fun fits the bill.
Two puppies from Disney's 101 Dalmations.
Two Spellbinders Labels Eleven in two colours.
Two panels to hold the ribbon tied into a bow.
Two buttons in the top right corner.
Two jewels on the collars, one pink and one blue.
Patterned paper is from Echo Park Everyday Eclectic.
Ain't this such a Happy Happy card?

NEON Card to say Hi

... is all about using NEON colors on your card.  You can use any theme you wish.

CAS-ual Fridays CFC74

As you can see, I am not doing 365 Cards in order these days
because some of the challenges really need a lot of thought.
Seeing CAS-ual Fridays' challenge solved it all for me.
Neon always looks better in black (as in the dark)
and I chose colors which look closest to neon.
A rather CAS card to say "hi".

CAS Happy Anniversary Card

A brand new CAS card blog is here, CAS(E) this Sketch and what a wonderful first sketch!

combining this challenge with 365 Cards Day 222 ~ Tick Tock Time
include a reference to or image(e.g. a clock) of time on your card.

I CAS(E)d time with this card.
What a better way to celebrate time than with an anniversary!
Swiss Dots on white,
DCWV paper, Maya Road twine,
green button, five pearls,
Hero Arts sentiment stamp.

Thank You Freshly Made Sketches

This week's Freshly Made Sketch FMS56 is just awesome.

This was such a fun card to make,
even the little owl is flapping its wings with joy.
I decided not to use any dies for this card
and just relied on the good old ruler and cutter
to cut all the papers.
One origami paper, plain cards cut to size,
three strands of yarn,
thank you and leaf stamps from Hero Arts,
little owl stamp from Micia Crafts.
Thank you, thank you, thank you
for a wonderful time.

This cute card was submitted for PaperPlay Challenges Week 41 ~ Simply Cute.

MOJO262 with Color Throwdown CTD213

Made another card for Mojo Monday MOJO262
with colors from Color Throwdown CTD213

This time I have used Echo Park Everyday Eclectic papers alongside DCVW.
It turned out very different from the first one I made this morning
with a different palette of colors.
The Cuttlebug butterfly gives it a beautiful touch.

MOJO Chocolate Time

It's another fantastic sketch from Mojo Monday MOJO262

and Chocolate, Coffee & Cards Challenge 23 ~ Color Combo time.

This card took a very long time to make as I had to try it out several options.
Hope the effort pays off.

I think the card looks better portrait than landscape so I am updating the post with this photo.

Happy Day Greetings to You

Combining two wonderful challenges
(notice the inverted numbers?)

What a lovely sketch and lovely colours for a happy card!
Spellbinders Labels Eleven (which looks like a fat burger),
green one cut into three (instead of four),
orange one tied with a twine.
A seashell tucked in nicely.
A row of tiny flowers stamped below.
Sneaked in the third label for the sentiment.
Have a Happy Day!!!

Butterfly Away Any Occasion Card

Two very lovely challenges ~ simple sketch and silver.
365 Cards Day 221 - Super Sunday Sketch

Less is More Week 88 Colour ~ Silver

Polka dots, scalloped circles, glittery flower and butterfly with pearls.
Simple elegance.
This CAS card is very versatile and can be used for any occasion,
which is why I left it sentiment free.
My motto ~ Keep it plain and simple.

365 Cards Day 220 - Missed Opportunity

I chose Day 328 ~ Super Sketchy Sunday on January 22
and Day 343 ~ Mismatched on February 6.
You need to use two different patterned papers that you would not normally use together.

I only started making cards back in February some time,
and set out to make 365 cards commencing March 1 with 365 Cards.
My skills have improved since, especially
after the Cuttlebug and Spellbinders came into my life.
I started with using wrapping paper and cards less than 200g.
Now I use mainly plain cards in various colors with the help of embossing folders,
die cuts, ribbons and twine, stamps (mainly Hero Arts Stamps).
I may not have as many dies, stamps or ribbons as I would love to have,
but I make do with the little I have.

For this card, I combined 2 challenges into one with the 2 different patterned papers
that do not seem to match, yet when the card is done, they come together quite well.
The sentiment is from Love Vellum Quotes by Colorbok.
Like 2 different people falling in LOVE.
They say opposites attract.
Playful meets tweed, fun meets serious,
exciting meets calm.
That's what LOVE is about.

Unscripted Sketch #179 with 365-219 Colors

A wonderful pairing of challenges for this card

It is always delightful to match challenges, especially that of a sketch and a color palette.
When the match is right, the card just turns out well.
The patterned paper is origami paper from Tokutokuya 100 Yen Store.
The green paper is from DCWV.
Embossed the green panel with Sizzix Polka Dot
in an angle so that the dots came out aligned vertically.
The scalloped circles are Spellbinders.
The orange flower is cut using Cuttlebug's Garden Creatures.
This is a card that can be used for any occasion.

World Card Making Day October 6, 2012

Happy World Card Making Day to all Card Makers.  To celebrate the day, I made three cards and a bookmark for various challenges, including 365 Cards, Freshly Made Sketches and Friday Mashup, although they are not my personal best effort, feeling stressed and all (and that is a long story).

My wish is for me to make better cards for all the wonderful card challenges I take part in and perhaps win some prizes.  Although some of my cards have been picked as winners by some blogs, I keep seeing even better and more beautiful cards by such creative people, many of whom have been doing this for years, some of whom have become virtual friends on the internet, via Facebook, Pinterest and blogs.

I also wish to get more Spellbinders die cuts (they are the best), Hero Arts stamps, perhaps someday get products from Stampin' Up, My Favourite Things, Echo Park, etc. which are hard to come by (and expensive) in this part of the world.  Maybe I can win some along the way.

To all the DTs of the fantastic card challenge blogs, a big thank you and keep it up.  You have all been inspirational and your cards are so beautiful.  Special mentions to the following for keeping me hooked on cards.

  • 365 Cards
  • Freshly Made Sketches
  • Mojo Monday
  • Dynamic Duos
  • Less is More
  • CAS-ual Fridays
  • Friday Mashup
  • Sketchbook Saturday
  • Retro Sketches
  • Ipalamountain

Thinking of You Card

This card is made for
365 Cards Day 218 ~ Feeling Contained
It's called feeling contained because it requires you to use some sort of "container" on your card.  It can be an image, an item that actually contains something, or in Michelle's case a fabulous little sticker (or two!)

using this very versatile sketch from Freshly Made FMS55

The thing about Freshly Made sketches ~ they always look fresh.
Used 2 patterned papers from Echo Park Everyday Eclectic.
Die cut the red scalloped circle and
stuck on this cute teapot and teacup sticker (as the container).
Stamped Hero Arts Everyday Messages in Ladybug.
Completed the card with 3 red flowers.
Thinking of you today.
Would you like to have tea?

365 Cards Day 217 ~ Long and Lean

Rainbow hearts for you
with heart stickers and Spellbinders Classic Hearts.

365 Cards Day 216 ~ Speckled Background

Made this card along with this wonderful challenge

  1. Make a project with the colors "Pacific Point, Marina Mist, Gumball Green, and Lucky Limeade".
  2. Or Make a project using "Rectangles".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with the "Color Combination and Rectangles".
Christmas Time is Present Time.
26th December is Boxing Day.

365 Cards Day 215 ~ Non-Card

I made a CAS book mark for a friend.

MOJO261 with Color Throwdown CTD212

Yet another wonderful sketch from Mojo Monday MOJO261,
played along with Color Throwdown CTD212 on my first attempt with 5 colors.

Made this card with a slight twist.  Embossed Swiss Dots on white card.
Die cut the red card with ...
For the want of Spellbinders Classic Circles, I made do with Scalloped Circles instead.
Cut a banner using patterned paper from Echo Park Everyday Eclectic.
Tied the ribbon into a bow.
Placed the grey scalloped circle and mounted the butterfly.
Embellished with pearls.
Sentiment is from Mrs Grossman's.
Have a Blessed and Happy Birthday!
